Skills
& Expertise
Since 2002, I have worked closely with the special needs community to raise awareness and highlight the plight of those with different abilities and their families through public events and programmes. In 2019, through a non-profit initiative called Bahrain for All (BHR4ALL) which I founded in 2012, an inclusive summer camp was organized at the Bahrain Institute of Hotel and Retail. With the support of the Ministry of Interior, generous sponsors and a group of volunteers, a free of charge 6-week inclusive camp was implemented. The camp consisted of 20 students with varying conditions and was perhaps the first of its kind in the region. I believe the main reason for its success is that the timetable included novel activities which appeared to have a positive impact on the participants' life skills. In May 2022, I presented an academic paper with Dr. Sahana Mitra on the Summer Camp, at the Middle East Psychology Association Regional Conference, Kuwait.
